DIY Sliding Closet Doors – Having a professional install of commercially manufactured sliding doors in your home will cost hundreds of dollars. If you like sliding doors but do not want to spend a fortune on them, be creative and make your own.
Measure the size of the opening as you build the doors. Divide the width of the opening with two to get the width of DIY Sliding Closet Doors. Build the doors from a light frame covered with a Masonite varnish. Create a rectangle size with Masonite by gluing and nailing Masonite to both sides of the frame.
Screw two wheels on the bottom of each door, positioned so that the door will roll laterally. Screw two metal slings on top of each door. Attach a pipe over the opening in the wall. Cut the tube so that it is 6 inches longer than the width of the opening. Slide the lugs that are attached to the doors underneath the pipes. Place the DIY Sliding Closet Doors in front of the opening with the tube on top of them. Attach 90 degree corners with flanges on their faces at each end of the tube. Check the level of the tube with a 4-foot level.
